PURPOSE: To obtain excellent responsiveness and the high contrast ratio by laminating a resistance layer on a surface of a trigger electrode, and exposing a surface of this resistance layer to a discharge space filled with discharge gas. CONSTITUTION: A resistance layer Rb is applied to and formed on a surface of a trigger electrode Tb, and its surface is exposed to a discharge space, and stripe-shaped insulating layers Ib are formed at proper intervals on a surface of the resistance layer Rb, and a cathode Kb is laid and formed on this surface. In this case, trigger discharge between the trigger electrode and the cathode is performed through the discharge space filled with halogen gas by interposing the intermediate resistance layer Rb, and since a dielectric layer is not provided, even if a width of the cathode does not become narrow, the contrast ratio of a constant level is kept, and in addition to that, high luminance is held. In this way, a plasma display panel whose manufacture and work are easy and product cost is inexpensive and which has high luminance and contrast ratio, can be obtained. |
