PURPOSE:To prevent image trailing without deteriorating sensitivity of a photosensitive body and to enhance image quality by adding a compound capable of reacting nitric acid ions to form a substance hardly soluble in water or low in dissociation constant in water to the surface of an image bearing body and cleaning the surface. CONSTITUTION:The compound capable of reacting with nitric acid ions to form a substance hardly soluble in water or low in dissociation constant in water is added to the surface of the image bearing body. This compound reacts with the nitric acid ions produced by the corona discharge process and forms the water-insoluble matter and the like which is easily removed by the following cleaning step, thus permitting accumulation of the nitric acid ions on the surface of the image bearing body causing the image trailing to be prevented and image quality to be enhanced. |
