OPERATING CONDITION MONITORING SYSTEM FOR PLANT AND ELECTROCHEMICAL ELECTRODE USED THEREFOR

PURPOSE:To obtain a highly reliable monitoring system by arranging an electrochemi cal electrode for inspecting quality of water used for a nuclear power plant or the like to be made up of an electrolytic layer containing ions of an electrode material, a non-liquid permeating porous ceramic layer surrounding it, an electrode material contacting the electrolytic layer and a terminal provided thereon. CONSTITUTION:An internal electrode for reference provided in a core of a nuclear reactor pressure vessel is constructed by a method as follows: alumina or zirconia is applied on both sides of a silver wire 26 and a silver halide 23 is attached to a part having no ceramic coating. Then, an alumina coating 22 is applied on the surface of the silver halide with a thickness of hundreds of mum and an air ratio of less than 70% and moreover, an alumina coating 24 is applied on the outer circumference thereof with a thickness of several mm and air ratio of less than 10% to form a sensor section. Then, a lower part of the sensor is wrapped with an SUS guard 21 having a pore and a lead 31 of the SUS is connected to one end of the silver wire 2. A space between the guard 21 and the lead 31 is filled with magnesia 28 as insulating agent and the end thereof is sealed by glass 30.
