PURPOSE: To provide an electric drive additional device which makes a wheel chair easily pass through a curb and a similar obstacle, by comprising an electric motor as a driving device, and wheels for driving a wheelchair by the frictional contact with the ground. CONSTITUTION: An electric drive additional device comprises an electric motor 2, a speed reducer 4, and a driving wheel 6 for driving a wheelchair by the frictional contact with the ground. The motor 2, the speed reducer 4 and the driving wheel 6 are mounted on a carrier sleeve 22 provided with a projection 24 having plural holes, by the screws 28. The arms 42 and 42' can be folded from a completely opened condition to a folded condition, so that they permit the wheelchair to be folded in a condition that the mounting member 40 is located at a specific position. A position A where the driving device is lifted from the ground and the wheelchair is manually driven, as position B of the electric driving where the inclination angle of the mounting member is the sharpest with the general ground contact, and a position C of the electric driving where the wheelchair is kept into contact with the ground is such manner that it can creep up or down to a curb and a similar obstacle, can be selected.
