PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of wrinkles from occurring due to heat in a PET base material for thermal transfer recording by adding whiskers to a polyethylene terephthalate film being a base material. CONSTITUTION:Whiskers 3 mean fibers having an extremely fine diameter and, by adding the whiskers 3 to a polymer such as PET 2, the mechanical strength and heat resistance of PET 2 are enhanced. The whiskers 3 can be made fine so as to have a fiber diameter of 0.1 - 1.0 mum. Micro-reinforcing properties can be realized in a matrix of PET 2 by these fine fibers and the mechanical strength of the matrix can be enhanced and the matrix can be also formed into a membrane. Further, the whiskers 3 can prevent the generation of heat histeresis wrinkles due to he heat resistance of the whiskers 3. As an embodiment of the whiskers, whiskers composed of silicon carbide, potassium titanate, aluminum borate or alumina can be already obtained industrially and aluminum borate or alumina is more pref. among them because of inepensiveness. |
