PURPOSE:To effectively sterilize the microorganisms in fluid without using a large quantity of electric energy by once stopping the impression of high- voltage pulses after the impression of the high-voltage pulses to a liquid surface, then impressing the high-voltage pulses again to the liquid surface. CONSTITUTION:The method for sterilizing the microorganisms contained in the liquid by impressing the high-voltage pulses to the surface of the liquid to be treated includes a stage for impressing the high-voltage pulse, a stage for halting the impression of the high-voltage pulses and a stage for impressing the high-voltage pulses after the halt of the impression. The sterilization effect is higher as the pulse voltage of the high-voltage pulses is higher but the large- scale device is necessitated and such device is economically disadvantageous if the pulses of the excessively high voltage are used and, therefore, the pulse voltage of 5 to 50kV, more preferably 29kV may be used if the distance between an electrode and the surface of the liquid to be treated is, for example, about 5mm. Various pulses of square waveforms, peak waves, sine wave, etc., are usable as the high-voltage pulse waveforms to be impressed. The square wave among these pulse waveforms are more preferably used. |
