PURPOSE:To effectively use a thrust by the linear vibration of a vibrator by applying an ultrasonic electric signal having a phase difference of pi/2 to piezoelectric vibrators divided into two sets by aligning the polarities, and generating a standing wave having a phase difference of pi/2 at a linear stripelike elastic member. CONSTITUTION:When the phase of an output signal of an ultrasonic electric signal source 8 is led by pi/2 from the phase of the output signal of an ultrasonic electric signal source 7 and these signals are applied to piezoelectric vibrators 3a-3d, a linear stripelike elastic member 1 is elongated to reduce its thickness to become a trough if the vibrators 3a-3d are elongated, while the member 1 is contracted to increase its thickness to become a crest if the vibrators 3a-3d are contracted, thereby generating two standing waves so that the phase difference becomes pi/2. The two waves are combined to generate a traveling wave, which is advanced rightward as indicated by an arrow R, and protrusions 1a-1d are moved counter clockwise along an elliptical trace. When a moving member 5 is pressurized by the load P to the protrusions 1a-1d, the member 5 is sent in a direction of an arrow FL by means of a frictional force. |
