PURPOSE:To suppress the meandering width of a belt to the min. by detecting the belt deflection quantity in a sufficiently short cycle for the belt revolution cycle on the basis of a number of deflection position detection patterns, and carrying out deflection control in real time. CONSTITUTION:A number of deflection position detection patterns 4 are formed continuously along a belt transport direction A, keeping a sufficiently long interval for the peripheral length of a belt 1, with the same shape permitting the width in the direction crossing at right angle with th direction of a driving roller shaft 2 to gradually increase in the axial direction. A deflection signal which shows the deflection quantity from the standard position of the belt 1is generated according to the detected width at the standard position in the axial direction of the pattern 4, by a detecting means 9. The deviation signal of the detecting means 9 as shift control quantity is allowed to act continuously to a belt shifting means 12, and the belt 1 is stopped in deflection. Accordingly, the meandering width of the belt 1 can be suppressed to the min. limit value. |
