The connection unit, for a domestic conductor system with a data transmission network, includes a bus coupling unit (BA) and a device-dedicated adaptor (AD) connected to it, via first (L1) and second (L2) lines and intercommunicating as the transmitter and receiver. The transmit-signals (TR) transmitted via line (L2) have a pulse-width which is less than the resulting half pulse-width of the data-pulse (DA) which is transmitted via line (L1), and data transmission between the coupling unit (BA) and the adaptor (AD) is based on the I2C-bus-mode, with the transmit signals (TR) always generated on the first half of the data signals. After reception of a transmit-signal (TR) together with the associated data signal (DA) the receiver provides an acknowledgement signal.
