Improvements in hermetic sealing systems for containers. The improvements relate to a stopper, with an optional sealing strip and self-sealing ring located in its internal base, which base has two planes, a peripheral one of normal thickness, and a central one of reduced thickness; in the intersection of both planes there is a continuous weakening of wedge-shaped section. The improvements allow free bending of the self-sealing ring to adapt it to the neck of the container, compensating for the tolerances thereof, and deformation of the base of the stopper, with the aim of achieving an additional thread length. <IMAGE>
