Prodn. of free-running storable FeSO4.7H2O (I) involves mixing moist FeSO4.7H2O (IM) and dry FeSO4.7H2O (ID) in such a ratio that (I) has the specified properties. Pref. (IM) is obtd. as by-prod. in TiO2 prodn., whilst (ID) is obtd. by drying (IM) at 40-60 deg.C. The FeSO4/H2O wt. ratio is 0.92-1.09 in (IM), 1.38-1.71 in (ID) and 1.7-1.50 in (I). (IM) and (ID) are mixed in 3:1 to 1:2 wt. ratio with intensive stirring.
