Water and abrasive mixer for surface cleaning - has inclined inlet for air and abrasive reduced in diameter to accelerate mixture

The mixer consists of a cylindrical mixing chamber (M) with a ceramic atomizer (18) at one end and a venturi form outlet nozzle (20) at the other. Water under pressure enters along the axis (24) through the pipe (12) and is atomized by it spassage through an aperture (19). Abrasive suspended in air enters the side of the chamber at an angle through a second inlet. The second inlet has a two-part bore (26) with a reduced section (26b) which causes the air-abrasive mixture to accelerate, thus promoting rotation of the mixture in the chamber. The spirally rotating jet creating as the mixture passes through the nozzle produces the desired wiping motion of the mixture on the surface ot be cleaned. USE/ADVANTAGE - Removal of fine layers of contaminated material from stone and metal surfaces, e.g. buildings, statues. Design effective with small nozzles.
