A hollow but non-inflated tyre for the wheels on hospital beds, invalid chairs etc. has an injection moulded flexible U-section tyre cover with sidewalls which turn inwards and an outer tread of rubber-like material. This cover is a one-piece injection moulding, the tread is injection moulded on to the circumference of the cover and is pref. a thermoplastic rubber and an elastomer in particular contg. polypropylene. ADVANTAGE - The tyre is readily produced. It withstands heavy loads.
