PURPOSE:To position a rotary polygon mirror and the rotary shaft of a motor with high accuracy by providing a light reflecting surface which is formed on nonplane surfaces to an optical deflecting means which scans a scanned object with the light beam from a light source and forming the light reflecting surface of 4 X m (m: natural number) surfaces. CONSTITUTION:The device is equipped with the optical deflecting means 50 which scans the scanned object with the light beam from the light source and the optical deflecting means 50 has the light reflecting surface formed of 4 Xm (m: natural number) nonplane surfaces. Therefore, when a rotary polygon mirror 80 used for the optical deflecting means 50 and the rotary shaft 58 of a motor 52 which rotates the rotary polygon mirror 80 are fixed, the number of reflecting surfaces formed in a convex shape is prescribed to a multiple of 4 and the parallel movement of a 1st couple of reflecting surfaces and reflection characteristics of other couples of reflecting surfaces (i.e. surfaces intersecting the couple of reflecting surfaces at right angles) are separated. Consequently, eccentricity or inclination is removed by easy adjustment and the positioning is facilitated. |
