PURPOSE:To accurately detect the direction of a line of sight by finding the center of the pupil and the position of a 1st Purkinje image by using many bit elements. CONSTITUTION:An initial value Vmax=0 is supplied as a temporary maximum value Vmax to a maximum value storage memory. Bit elements (the number of elements to be N) of a linear line sensor 36 are referred to from the left to the right in order; when there is a bit element which outputs a value larger than the temporary maximum value Vmax, the output value of the bit element is updated as a new temporary maximum value Vmax and the number Imax of the bit element corresponding to the temporary maximum value Vmax is stored in a bit number storage memory. Further, the position of the 1st Purkinje image PI is found as an interpolation coordinate Xpeak by using a bit element which outputs a peak value and plural bit elements adjoining to the bit element. Conse quently, the direction of the line of sight can accurately be detected. |
