NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R<1> is H or alkyl; R<2> and R<3> are H, alkyl, benzyl, etc., provided that R<2> and R<3> are not simultaneously H or methyl). EXAMPLE:N-{(R)-1-Ferrocenylethyl}-N-methyl-2-ethanolamine. USE:An optically active catalyst, useful for synthesizing optically active alcohols and capable of providing the optically active alcohols of higher optical purity dut to high enantioselectivity thereof and further carrying out asymmetric alkylating reaction at ambient temperature or above. PREPARATION:A ferrocene derivative expressed by formula II (Me is methyl) is initially subjected to a reaction in a solvent such as acetone, preferably at -10 to +40 deg.C under 1-3atm in an atmosphere of N2. The resultant compound expressed by formula III is then made to react with an amine expressed by the formula HNR<2>R<3> in a solvent such as THF, preferably at 10-90 deg.C under 1-3atm in an atmosphere of N2. The resultant compound expressed by formula III is then made to react with an amine expressed by the formula HNR<2>R<3> in a solvent such as THF, preferably at 10-90 deg.C under 1-3atm in an atmosphere of N2. |
