PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material excellent in high speed recording properties and storage stability by containing a specific hidantoin compound and a compound selected from a phthalic ester derivative, a biphenyl derivative, an aromatic fused ring derivative and an aromatic amide derivative. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal recording material containing a color developable dye and the coupler developing the color of the dye at the time of heating, at least one kind of a hidantoin compound represented by formula (I) and at least one of respective compounds represented by formulae [II] - [V] are contained. In the formula [I], R<1> is a 12 - 20 alkyl group and, in the formula [II], R<2> and R<3> are an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aryl group or an aralkyl group and, in the formula [III], R<4> and R<5> are a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an aryl group or an aralkyl group and, in the formula (IV), R<6> is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group and R<7> is an alkyl group, an aryl group or an aralkyl group and, in the formula [V], R<8> is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or an alkyl group and R<9> and R<10> are a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group or an aralkyl group. |
