<p>PURPOSE:To accomplish the arbitrary or selective elimination of the title dendrites from cultured neurocytes developed on a culture medium by using a chemical such as cytochalasin inhibitive for dendrite elongation but not inhibitive for axon elongation. CONSTITUTION:Using a laboratory dish 1 coated with poly-L-lysine as culture vessel, neurocytes 2 such as avian embryo dorsal root nerve node cells treated with a cell-dispersive enzyme collagenase are injected in portions onto the dish and the neurocytes 2 (dendrites 3 and axons 4) are developed on the poly-L- lysine of high affinity through incubation. Thence, a glass tube 5 filled with cytochalasin (by controlling its tip diameter, cytochalasin leakages can be controlled) is situated at an arbitrary place in the dish 1 followed by allowing the cytochalasin to act on that place; then at that place, unnecessary dendrites 3 can be eliminated without impairing axon extension. Thereby, unnecessary neural circuits can be removed, and arbitrary neural circuits can be made up on the culture medium.</p> |
