PURPOSE:To increase the amount of ice formation in lakes, swamps and ponds and reserve at least a portion of ice until summer to use it as a cold-heat source by providing at least an one-way heat exchanging device which absorbs heat from water and transferres and releases it into the atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:Two or more heat pipes 4 are arranged in the lake water nearly perpendicularly to the water surface 6 of a lake, and their lower ends are installed on the bottom of the lake and held by supports 8. The upper ends of the heat pipes are located in the atmosphere 12, and the adjacent heat pipes are joined to each other by water-surface supports 14 and submerged supports 16. The water-surface supports 14 are fixed on the shore of the lake. Therefore, the heat pipes 4 are prevented from moving in water and kept at a regular relative position to the lake. The heat transfer resistance between the lake water 2 and the atmosphere 12 is remarkably reduced by the action of the heat pipes 4, and the temperature of the lake water 2 under the ice 20 can be decreased to less than 0 deg.C even when ice 20 formed over the lake surface is thick.
