PURPOSE:To speed up outline font expanding processing by performing plane painting processing as to a minimum area which surrounds a character to be expanded and painting out the internal area of an outline font. CONSTITUTION:An outline font expanding device 20 plots the contour of a character font in order to plot the outline font, whose inside is painted out by the plane painting processing to expand the outline font. A character range detecting means 11 detects and holds the maximum value and minimum value of coordinates of the contour of the character font and a plane painting means 12 performs the plane painting processing as to only the area encircled with the maximum and minimum values of the coordinates of the contour of the detected character font to paint out the internal area of the plotted outline font. Thus, the plane painting processing object area is reduced corresponding to the size of the character to be expanded, so the plane painting time is shortened and the outline font expanding processing is speeded up. |
