PURPOSE:To use an electrode in oil over a long period of time with reliability by constituting a reference electrode of a response electrode responding to the acidity and basicity in oil to change in potential difference and a metal electrode composed of one metal selected from lead, zinc, tin, indium, cadmium, magnesium or alloy thereof. CONSTITUTION:A reference electrode consists of a response electrode responding to the acidity and basicity in oil to change in potential difference and the metal electrode composed of one metal selected from lead, zinc, tin, indium, cadmium, magnesium or alloy thereof used in combination with the response electrode. A metal such as lead, tin or indium is a base metal and gently dissolved in oil at an anode. The anode reaction corresponding to the dissolution of the metal is originally regardless of the acidity and basicity in oil and the electrode potential determined from the balance with the anode reaction becomes regardless of the acidity and basicity in oil and the metal electrode can become the reference electrode in oil. Since the reference electrode is formed by using a metal such as lead, tin or indium or an alloy itself, even when it is used in oil over a long period time, reliability can be kept. |
