The invention relates to a system for automatically dispensing liquid and which will essentially be used to water potted plants. It is closely connected to the invention which was the subject of Patent Application No. 8916098 dated 6 December 1989. A Hermetically sealed container, which has a part containing air, at the top, and a part containing liquid, at the bottom, is fitted at its base with an opening of small diameter which allows the liquid to flow out when the air contained in the container expands. The liquid may be caused to flow out in three different ways: - by heating the air in the container; - by cooling it, - or by using the temperature differences between day and night. <IMAGE>
