DEVICE FOR MANAGING NUMBER OF COPIES

PURPOSE:To allow the scrupulous management of number of copies by providing a portable memory means which stores the information on the total number of copies by sizes and the information on the copiable upper limit number of copies and storing the fresh total number of copies therein. CONSTITUTION:The device 1 is set to wait for inputting of a personal identification when an IC card 3 is inputted to the managing device 2. The device immediately sends the personal identification number to the device 2 when there is the input of the personal identification number from an operating section 101 of the copying device. The device 2 retrieves the division number coinciding with the personal identification number and checks whether the total count value of the number of copies in this division number is above the upper limit value or not if the division number coinciding with the personal identification number exists. The device transmits a copiable flag to the device 1 if the value is below the upper limit value. The device 1 is put into the copiable state and starts operating to increase the counters by sizes of this division corresponding to the size signal of copying paper and the value of a total counter. The copying is thereafter stopped if the value is above the total set value for this division.
