Compact sorter for sorting copied documents, which comprises: slotted guides, a transfer wheel (2) and a plurality of storage trays (3), and which is characterised in that the central portion of the slotted guide (1), which is formed in each of the lateral plates of the sorter body (S), is curved in the direction of the ejection section of the copier machine, within the limits of the radius of gyration of the transfer wheel (2), in such a way that the storage trays (3) serving to load the copied documents advance one by one in order to be directly beneath the ejection roller (5), so that the ejected documents are received precisely in the correct position of each of the storage trays (3). According to the present invention, the storage trays (3) move vertically and horizontally and both the storage tray (3) which has received a copied document and that which is on hold undergo a simultaneous displacement so as to produce a continuous operation and to allow installation in a confined space.
