The device comprises a casing (9) which can be fastened by means of a threaded nut to the lid (2) of the water tank and which includes a pusher (20) extending outside the lid (2). Pressure on the pusher (20) gives rise to the rotation of two inner toothed wheels of the said casing (9) and the rotation of a bent arm integral with one of the two toothed wheels. The free end of such an arm extends outside the casing (9) and is provided with an elongate hook which hooks on the movable control member (4) of the water-flush mechanism mounted in the tank so that the actuation of the pusher (20) gives rise, eventually, to the actuation of the same water-flush mechanism. The device can easily be applied regardless of the water tank, it is very robust and makes it possible, via simple adjustment of the distance of the pusher (20) from the hook of the bent arm, for it to be fitted to various water-flush mechanisms. <IMAGE>
