A compass comprising a top, at which the arms are connected together, and interchangeable drawing instruments such as leads, divider needle points or drawing nibs, consists, according to the invention, of a container forming a reservoir (9) which can be closed, is designed to hold the drawing instruments (13) and is located in the top (4) or on it; the knob (6) can be hollow, forming the reservoir, and include an opening (8) into which fits a stopper (10) which can hold a rubber (18), in its part (12) projecting out of the reservoir, and/or a sleeve (11) which can be force-fitted into the reservoir (9), with a retention element which is wider than and made in one piece with the said sleeve and which rests on the edge of the reservoir (9) opening and comprises peripheral grooves concentric with the axis on its fluted outer surface. The reservoir, the knob and the top may be made from a plastic and in a single piece. <IMAGE>
