PURPOSE: To provide a slot antenna having controllable polarized waves by providing ear-shaped elements vertically to a base surface on either side along the long side edges of a slot arranged on the base surface. CONSTITUTION: The dipole of ear-shaped elements 13a and 13b is provided to conduct with a base surface 11. The elements 13a and 13b are in a quadrant shape and stand adjacently and vertically on a long side edge of a slot with the centers of the quadrants at the end of the long side edge. The relative size and positional relation of the elements 13a and 13b decide the polarized waves of energy that are radiated from an antenna. When all the energy is radiated from the ear-shaped elements, the antenna is polarized in the direction along the slot and polarized in a cross direction to the slot that consists of only slot. In the case of radiation from both sides, when both radiation are in the same phase, they are linearly polarized. When they are in the same amplitude and their phase difference is±90 deg., they are circularly polarized, and when they are different in amplitude and phase, they are elliptically polarized.
