Gas-tight pipe connector for oil fields - in which symmetrical PTFE ring is formed between tapered plug and socket that screw together

This is a gastight pipe-connector for use in oil field, esp. for drill pipes. It has a tapered plug and socket that screw together with, between them in a circular groove around the plug, and completely filling the groove, a symmetrical ring made from PTFE. The inner side of the ring is, in cross-section, trough-shaped. USE/ADVANTAGE - An improved connector for oil-field use is offered that remains gastight, at inside pressures up to 690 bars (10,000 psi), after screwing and unscrewings without changing the sealing ring.
