The invention describes an installation for rolling out hot wide strip from continuously cast thin slabs by means of a continuous finishing train 19 which operates with three casting machines or casting lines 1, 2, 3 positioned ahead of it, the central casting machine or casting line 2 being in line with the finishing train 19. The transfer of the thin slabs 24, 25, 26 from the cast strands 21, 22, 23 into the finishing train 19 is performed by two transfer carriages 16 and 17 operating as combined longitudinal/trans-verse/longitudinal conveying systems, these two transfer carriages 16 and 17 being alternately placed in alignment with in each case two cast strands 21, 22 or 22, 23 running adjacent to one another.
