A needle disposal system comprises an assembly of a head unit (12) and a disposable container (10) securable thereunder. The head unit (12) has an opening to house a trigger mechanism (34) with a trigger provided with a top plate (30) and a bottom plate (38) having aligned apertures (32, 40) therein. A tube (42) extends between the two apertures (32, 40) and provides a liquid proof passage through the trigger mechanism (34). the head unit (12) has top and bottom plate members (28, 29) between which the trigger moves. The plate members (28, 29) have apertures (26, 31) with which the passage is alignable. The aperture (31) of the bottom plate member (29) is elongate and the tube (42) projects below the bottom plate (38) of the trigger to pass through the aperture (31) of the bottom plate member (29). The elongate aperture (31) has a skirt (44) depending from therearound and the container (10) has a collar (46) upstanding from the top thereof to fit around the skirt (44). |
