PURPOSE:To obtain a catalytic layer able to perform long=range heavy load discharge and excellent in liquid leakage resistance by a method wherein both of an air=side layer and an electrolyte-side layer carry at least either of a fluorine-contained solvent or a perfluorocompound and besides the content ratio (weight %) of a water shedding binder of said air-side layer is made to be bigger than the content ratio (weight %) of said water-shedding compound of said electrolyte-side layer. CONSTITUTION:A perfluorocompound is used by solving it in a fluorine solvent. Thereby, the perfluorocompound is made to be in the range not less than 0.1% and not more than 10% in the volume ratio to the volume of the fluorine solvent. The content ratio of the water shedding compound inside of an air-side layer is made bigger than that in the electrolyte-side layer in the wt%. When said catalytic layer is applied to an air electrode, electrolyte becomes unlikely to percolate through pores inside of the air-side layer, while the electrolyte properly percolate through the pores of the electrolyte-side layer so that in the interface of two layers or in the neighborhood thereof the perforation of the electrolyte and water shed maintain delicate balance so as to make a three- phase zone performing electrochemical reduction reaction of oxigen gas to have long- range stabilized existence. |
