A method of controlling the current consumption in an integrated semiconducting circuit and a microprocessor with at least one functional block involves detecting the start of operation of a block before it begins, activating and then deactivating it after completion of the operation. A memory access is detected by detecting a load/memory instruction and the memory activated accordingly.
