The IC engine has an oil barrier tray, fastened in a joint next to the oil sump. The joint also contains seals, which are integrated in the oil barrier tray (9). The seals are located between the lower end face of a crankcase and the top face of the barrier tray, and between the lower face of the tray and the oil sump. The barrier tray has a circumferential flanged edge to contain the seal.
