Data from an incoming line (DAI) are stored in a first shift register (SR16) and compared (VG16) with information from a program register (REG16). If euqality is found, an interrupt command (INT) is generated and the variable part of the information is transmitted to a first part register (REG8/1). A microprocessor forwards modified information to a second part register (REG8/2) for transmission from a second shift register (SR8) to an outgoing line (DAO). If a time limit is exceeded, the input is transmitted without modification. ADVANTAGE - Protocol tests for fault simulation in extensive networks can be performed at less cost.
