The stretcher support consists of a power-adjusted mounting whose loading side nearest the door etc. can be set to a loading setting for sliding a stretcher on or removing it. The adjuster is controlled by a scanner (6) which senses ground height (4) at the door and sets the adjuster to the requisite height for loading the stretcher onto the mounting. The scanner works by ultrasound, i.e. without ground contact. USE/ADVANTAGE - Ambulances. Ground height scanned to ensure the stretcher can slide on or be removed with ease and without discomfort.
