Cutter for cast removal - has wedge and pair of jaws each with cutting edge
摘要
The cutter has a vee part which slides in between the skin and plaster cast and can move in relation to its inbuilt cutter jaws. It has a cutting edge as have the two jaws. The vee or wedge part should form a bevelled (3) cylinder (2) which is oscilalted in the rotation sense by a drive round the cylinder axis lying in the cutting direction. The cutter jaws (4) have an edge (6) which faces the bevel (4) and lies parallel to the cylinder axis and is spaced from this by one cylinder radius. The drive cam (10) passes movement to the cylinder through a swivel fork (8) and is slotted into this by means of a ballbearing (11). USE/ADVANTAGE - Hospital equipment, plaster removal. Oscillating cutting movement is easily controlled and avoids patient injury.
