In rotary-piston internal-combustion engines which work by the cat-and-mouse principale, the work spaces (30) inside the rotor (18) rotating at uniform speed in the housing (10) must be sealed off from each other and from the housing (10). The work spaces (30) are sealed off from the housing (10) by sealing rings (72) made of ceramic material and mounted in annular grooves (76) in the rotor wall (24) so that they can move in the radial direction. The sealing rings (72) rest against the inside wall (70) of the housing and surround the apertures (74) of the ducts (34) through which, in alternation, air/fuel mixture is fed and exhaust allowed to escape.
