PURPOSE:To prolong the life of a sensor, to reduce the consumption of a current, and to prevent the loss of a detecting time by driving the sensor detecting the size of an original with a driving means, judging the size of the original based on the output of the sensor with a judging means, and stopping the driving of the driving means when the size of the original is detected based on the result judged by the judging means, with a control means. CONSTITUTION:The subject device is provided with the driving means 10 driving the sensors 4a - 4f, the judging means 11 judging the size of the original based on the output of the sensors 4a - 4f, and the control means 12 serving as a means controlling the driving means 10, and stopping the driving of the driving means 10 when the size of the original is detected based on the result judged by the judging means 11. Thus, the driving means 10 drives the sensors 4a - 4f detecting the size of the original and the judging means 11 judges the size of the original based on the output of the sensors 4a - 4f, and the control means 12 stops the driving of the driving means 10 when the size of the original is detected based on the result judged by the judging means 11. Thus, the life of a sensor is prolonged, the consumption of the current is reduced, and the loss of the copying time is reduced. |
