HIGH-QUALITY CHARACTER PATTERN GENERATING SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To correctly and efficiently generate desired character patterns by discriminating whether the corresponding points are the changeover points of a black and white region or a black spot of just one point by the coordinate values of the spot constituting contour lines and plotting the many valued information indicating the characteristics of the corresponding spots to a contour line plotting memory. CONSTITUTION:A contour line plotting circuit 14 successively generates the coordinate values of the points constituting the contour lines of the corresponding character patterns in accordance with the information on the character contours stored in a buffer 13 of a first-in-first-out system and discriminates whether the corresponding points are either of the changeover points of the black and white regions or the block spot of just one point. The circuit writes the many valued information indicating the characteristics of the corresponding points into a memory 15 according to the results of the discrimination. A painting out processing circuit 17 scans the contour plotting memory and successively reads out the many valued information stored in this memory and executes the painting out processing according to the values. Various kinds of the character patterns, such as character patterns having the pointed end of one dot, are correctly and efficiently generated in this way in accordance with the coordinate values of the points constituting the contour lines.
