PURPOSE:To obtain such an information recording medium that realizes stable tracking and has excellent performance with little error by forming grooves of specified V-shaped cross section and using a specified cyanine dye. CONSTITUTION:On the grooved surface of a substrate 2, there is formed a recording layer 3 containing a dye which enables recording or reproducing of information with laser light. The groove 6 has such a V-shape cross section that its half width is 0.3 - 0.7 time as much as the half-value diameter of the laser beam for reproducing and the maximum depth of the groove is 700 - 1,700Angstrom . The dye is a cyanine dye expressed by formula I, wherein R<1> and R<2> are alkyl groups having 1 - 3 carbon number, R<3> is an alkyl group of 1 - 4 carbon number, alkoxyalkyl group of 1 - 4 carbon number, or fluoroalky group of 1 - 4 carbon number, and X<-> is an anion. By this method, such an information recording medium can be obtained that enables stable tracking and has excellent performance with little error. |
