PURPOSE: To obtain an implant containing a biodegradable polymer degradable in the eye and a medicinal agent, and capable of feeding an effective amount of the medicinal agent over a long period after inserted in a void above the choroidea of the eye. CONSTITUTION: This implant contains at least one kind of medicinal agent selected from medicinal, medicines and bactericidal agents, and a medically acceptable biodegradable polymer degradable in the eye, pref. a polyester containing an aliphatic hydroxycarboxylic acid monomer (pref. lactic acid), being pref. in the form of a plastic piece 0.5-10mm in length, 0.5-10mm in width and 0.25-1.0mm in thickness. The medicinal agent is e.g. methotrexate, vincristine, hydrocortisone; while the bactericidal agent is antiacid bacillus or C. parvum. Use of the L-form as the lactic acid affords the erosion-retardant polymer, while use of the racemic form enhances the erosion of the polymer.
