PURPOSE:To simply and economically manufacture hydrogen occlusion alloy powder for secondary battery by mixing powders of La, Ce, Nd, mish metal, etc., and the specific particle diameter of Ni powder and washing them with water after executing reduction, diffusing and reaction at the specific temp. CONSTITUTION:At least one kind of the powder in La, Ce, Nd and mish metal and the Ni powder having 3-10mm Fischer particle diameter are mixed. La, etc., is obtained by using stable and inexpensive oxide thereof. Further, the Ni powder is desirably obtained by using inexpensive carbonyl Ni powder having the equal particle shape. In the mixed material, Ca particles having minus sieve of about 4 mesh are added by the prescribed quantity as reducing agent and further, desirably, 5-15% CaCl2 anhydride is added as flux and the reduction, diffusing and reaction is executed at 950-1000 deg.C for about 0.5-5hr under Ar gas atmosphere. After that, the reacted material is charged into the water and collapsed and also washed with the water. By this method, the hydrogen occlusion alloy powder for secondary battery having minus sieve of about 74 mesh teiler particle diameter can be obtd. without needing mechanical pulverizing process. |
