The glow plug includes a tubular metal sheath (G) having in conjuction with the closed end a conical swaging (G3) made up by means of a conical compaction of the same sheath for getting in the swaged zone, extended in a part of the ogive (K3), an increase of the sheath thickness and then an increase of the resistance to the thermochemical corrosion during the motor preheating and running phase. The conical compaction also allows to get an increase of the consistency of the insulating powder going towards the tip of the swaged sheath part (G3). Advantages: It is got a greather reliability of the glow plug, a temperature uniformity in tip and a better configuration of the sheath closed end. Therefore an increase of the glow plug duration and a better combustion of the air-gas oil mixture are obtained. The invention is shown in Figure 3. <IMAGE>
