PURPOSE:To promote the total automation of transfer operation by using a standard plane formed on the side of an upright work such as a cylinder block, etc. as the reference plane and by clamping the work to a work support after positioning it at a temporary reference position. CONSTITUTION:A work W is brought over a work support 23 by a conveyer on this transfer mechanism and touches on a presser element. An elevator member 31 is raised, and a retainer member 30 is linked to the metal cap mounting seat of the work W and is lifted by a certain extent. Next, a reference member support 60 and a presser member support 70 rotate and descend to position the work W in the traverse direction of a temporary reference position, and the shoulder retaining face projected on the side of the work engages with the side of a reference member 65 to position the work in the lengthwise direction. After this, a clamp rod 33 is raised and inserted into the bore hole of the work W. Then, the clamp rod 33 is lowered and the work W is clamped on the retainer member 30. In this way, after the supports 60, 70 are taken away upward, a rocking mount 18 turns by 90 deg. and the work W is thrown down sideways. |
