PURPOSE:To ensure a recovery action conducted within a short time by a method wherein a recording liquid contained in almost all delivery ports is refreshed by a totally pressurizing action, and a partial suction is conducted only in parts of the delivery ports exhibiting unsatisfactory delivery. CONSTITUTION:When recording is conducted, an electromagnet valve 62 is kept opened, a recording liquid in a supply tank 55 is supplied to a common liquid chamber 52 by its own weight, and the recording liquid in the common liquid chamber 52 is led to delivery ports 53 through recording liquid paths provided in the common liquid chamber 52. On the other hand, when a recovery action is conducted for removing the bubbles or other foreign particles remaining in the common liquid chamber 52 and a supply system and for cooling a recording head 1, all the delivery ports 53 are sealed by covering delivery port surfaces 54 with a cap, and the recording liquid is circulated under pressure through a flow path of a circulation tube 61, the common liquid chamber 52, a supply tube 57, and a supply tank 55 by driving a recovery pump 59 with a recovery rectification valve 60 opened. At the time of this pressurized circulation, a part of the recording liquid is discharged from the delivery ports 53, whereby bubbles, a thickened recording liquid, dusts, and other foreign particles which may cause an unsatisfactory delivery are discharged and removed. |
