PURPOSE: To change a format without interrupting a process by retrieving information for limiting a display format from a data base in relation with a selected parameter, connecting it with retrieved display and displaying it. CONSTITUTION: Data for identifying process parameters are stored inside the data base 2 in the form of a variable for specifying the place of the data base 4 where process values are stored. Screen numbers are allocated to the respective display formats, a signal for identifying the displayed screen number is supplied from a keyboard, process control or a program and the signal is converted to a code in a module 12 and informed to a display system. The screen number code is supplied to the module 14 and all formats relating to the screen and the information are retrieved. A requested variable is sent to the module 16, screen format information is sent to the module 18 and the format information and a process parameter value at present are connected and sent to a display terminal.
