The elastic coupling is for use between shaft sections in an automotive transmission system. Flanges are mounted on the shaft section ends, with a coupling member of elastic material between them, while connecting components engage with the member and the respective flanges. Plain bearings (16, 20) are provided between the member (6) and the connecting components (10) to one or both flanges (4), allowing the member to slide axially in relation to the flanges (4) on the shaft sections (2) for a limited distance. USE/ADVANTAGE - Reduces breakaway forces and consequent noise in sliding joint.
