PURPOSE:To curtail the data quantity of a vector font of a character by selecting the direction of a vector for expressing each picture drawing element as such an angle from the main scanning direction as the total number of vectors becomes minimum, and expressing each picture drawing element by its angle data and contour data. CONSTITUTION:When the inside of the contour of each picture drawing element is expressed by a vector having a prescribed angle theta against the main scanning direction, sometimes it will suffice that the total number of vectors is very small. Naturally, an interval of the vectors having the angle theta is limited by resolution in the main scanning direction in a picture drawing system, therefore, a vector font is constituted of an interval in which it can be resolved in the main scanning direction in its limit. Accordingly, the angle theta of the vector is selected so that the total number of vectors in the contour of the picture drawing element becomes minimum, and the vector font is realized by its selected angle theta and contour data of the picture drawing element. In such a way, the transfer data quantity can be decreased, and by decreasing the number of times of the transfer, the throughput for reaching picture drawing can be improved. |
