The security pattern printed on a security paper is composed of a basic pattern on one side, having parallel lines (10, 20, 30) running in a specific direction with a multiplicity of interruptions, through which regions in the form of letters are cut out, and of a multiplicity of linear portions (1, 11, 21) which fill said regions. A plurality of groups (R to Z) of adjacent letters form a word in each case. Inside each group, all linear portions are parallel to one another, but from word to word the directions of the respective linear portions differ so that there is a multiplicity of words with differently sloping linear portions. Adjacent successive lines of the basic pattern and adjacent successive linear portions have alternately different colours, three different colours preferably being represented. In an attempt to reproduce a security paper with such a multi-coloured security pattern by means of a colour copier, the linear portions crossing the scanning direction at a greater angle, primarily approximately at a right angle, are reproduced more widely and diffusely than the linear portions and lines running approximately in the scanning direction so that, as a result of the widening of these lines, the corresponding words become clearly visible which are not noticeable in the security pattern of the genuine security paper when viewed briefly. …<IMAGE>… |
