PURPOSE: To attain appropriate close contact between a suction roller and a web-form material at a relatively low depression using a fan by applying smooth surface finish to the cylindrical outer surface of a roller body by means of lathe turning, grinding, and polishing, and making a hole at the cylindrical outer surface smaller than that of the body inside a sintered material. CONSTITUTION: The diameter of a hole is 35 to 70μm in the central cylindrical area of a suction roller body 1 for transporting magnetic coating cast on a plastic supporting layer, and 30μm max. in two peripheral areas 9, 9'. The hole of the cylindrical outer surface 17 of the roller body 1, when it has smooth surface finish by lathe turning, grinding, and polishing, is formed so as to be smaller than the hole of the body inside of a sintered material and serve as a desired suction roller.
